How To: Prepare Your Pool for Opening!

This short, informative guide will prepare you and your pool for our service technicians to open your pool for the summer! If this guide does not answer all the questions you may have, please contact us.
Please note: Premier Pool & Spa recommends that you contact us at least 30 days before the date that you would like your pool opened, this will ensure that you can be scheduled for a time that works best both for you and our service technicians.

1. Check water level and raise water to running level.
When opening pools in the spring, most pools require you to raise the water level before we arrive to open them. The water level should be at the middle of the square skimmer openings when the service techs arrive to open the pool. If you pool appears to have collected water up to the top or higher than the skimmer openings in the spring, it is recommended to use a submersible pump to lower the water to the middle of the skimmer openings. If you do not have a submersible pump or prefer to lower the water by backwashing or running the water to waste, that can be done after our service techs have opened your pool. If you don’t have time to lower the water we can add this as an additional service charge.

2. The Opening
Please have your auto cover pump running and continuously pumping any water off the cover to have it ready for the opening, if we are not cleaning your auto cover for you, please remove any heavy debris from the cover. For those with mesh covers, please have them cleaned and removed completely from the pool before the service techs arrival. Otherwise we will remove and clean all mesh covers left on the pool when opening it and you will be billed for the mesh cover removal. (please have mesh cover storage bag available on opening). If not pumped off we will pump off for an additional service charge.

3. Parts for the Pool
Should be left with the skimmer baskets for them to have available. If not available on opening, required parts will be taken off service truck and you will be billed for them.

4. Available
Outside water must be turned on and available with a garden hose to use. Please remember that our techs have been trained in the application of our chemicals and are only allowed to apply chemicals available at our retail location. If we need to return to finish opening there will be an additional charge.

5. Major Repairs
Please understand that major repairs are not able to be done during the opening. There are typically 6-8 openings scheduled per day during our busy season. If there are major repairs that you would like us to take care of for you please call and schedule a time so we can give your issues the time and care that are needed. 

6. Repairs & Clean-ups
If you know there will be repairs needed, we would like to know ahead of time so we can assign the proper tech and the proper time can be allotted. Clean-ups are typically billed on a time and material basis. Most major repairs are typically done by a single tech rather than the two techs on an opening, this work will be performed and billed separately from the opening.

7. Billing
Please be aware that payment is due upon receipt at completion of service.  We do require a credit card on file to set up service. We allow 5 business days before initiating a charge to your credit card.  This allows you to pay by check  or cash if preferred and also allows you time to look over the bill and contact us if there are any questions.
